Introduction of Limestone:

The main component of limestone is calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which is widely used as building materials and it is also an important raw material in many industries. Limestone can be used as a coating material and brick and tile adhesive; it can be directly processed into stone and fired into quicklime; it can be mixed with clay to produce cement by high temperature calcination; it can be mixed with quartz sand and soda ash to produce glass by high temperature melting; limestone is used as flux for iron making to remove gangue; quicklime is used as slag making material to remove sulfur, phosphorus and other harmful impurities; calcium carbide is quicklime and coke. Carbon is reacted in electric furnaces; limestone is processed into pure powdered calcium carbonate, which is used as a filler for rubber, plastic, paper, toothpaste, cosmetics, etc.
